Meet Dr. Stephen Aszkler
Being an orthodontist is a truly wonderful profession. I have the ability to dramatically change my patients’ appearance, and improve both their function and self-esteem in the process. I appreciate the trust my patients have put in my practice and me, and I’m honored when former patients return to have their own children treated.
Education and Experience
I grew up in Lackawanna and graduated from St. Francis High School in 1960. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in history, graduating magna cum laude in 1964, and my Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1969 from SUNY Buffalo. I served in the US Navy from June 1969 to June 1971. I began my specialty training at SUNY Buffalo after leaving the Navy and earned my certificate of proficiency in orthodontics in March 1973.
Since 1973, I have practiced orthodontics full-time with offices in Orchard Park, Derby, and Hamburg. I have been a clinical assistant professor in the SUNY Buffalo orthodontic department since 2008 and now work one day a week at the department since my son joined the practice.
I regularly attend national, state, and local dental meetings in order to apply results of evidence-based dentistry to treatment plans. I strive to use the most up-to-date materials and methods to achieve fantastic results!
Family Life
When I’m not in the office, I enjoy spending time with my wife Mary Joyce and our three sons — Craig, Jonathan, and Robert — as well as our five beautiful grandchildren: Elliott, Jonathan, Abby, Miles and Vivian. I enjoy being outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and skiing.
