Celebrating the Legacy of Our Founder
Dr. Stephen Aszkler
Being an orthodontist is a truly wonderful profession. I have dramatically changed my patients’ appearance and, in the process, improved their function and self-esteem. I appreciate the trust my patients have put in my practice and me over the years, and I’m honored when former patients return to have their own children treated by my son.
Education & Experience
I grew up in Lackawanna and graduated from St. Francis High School in 1960. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in history, graduating magna cum laude in 1964, and my Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1969 from SUNY Buffalo. I served in the US Navy from June 1969 to June 1971. I began my specialty training at SUNY Buffalo after leaving the Navy and earned my certificate of proficiency in orthodontics in March 1973.
Since 1973, I have practiced orthodontics full-time with offices in Orchard Park, Derby, and Hamburg. I have been a clinical assistant professor in the SUNY Buffalo orthodontic department since 2008, and now work one day a week at the department since my son joined the practice.
Family Life
I enjoy spending time with my wife, Mary Joyce, and our three sons, Craig, Jonathan, and Robert, as well as our five beautiful grandchildren: Elliott, Jonathan, Abby, Miles, and Vivian. I enjoy being outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and skiing.
